Web Application and API degraded performance

May 20, 2026 at 01:07 UTC Resolved

Affected: Web Application, API

Not affected: DNS Monitoring, Notifications

Resolved - We've restored the Web Application and API after a brief period of degraded storage performance. We have implemented mitigation measures to enable more graceful handling of any future storage performance issues.

Details

On May 20, 2026, the DNS Check Web Application and API experienced degraded performance for approximately 5 minutes and 7 seconds. During this window, requests to these services either failed or took significantly longer than normal to receive a response. DNS record monitoring and notification services were not impacted, and no data was lost.

The degraded performance began at approximately 01:07 UTC and services were fully restored by 01:12 UTC. The underlying cause was a database performance issue, which in turn was caused by a storage performance issue. Additional mitigation measures were put into place at 01:56 UTC and 02:14 UTC to allow the application to respond more gracefully if similar storage performance issues occur in the future.

We take uptime very seriously, and we apologize for this disruption.
